Portrait Photography is both challenging and rewarding. From beginner to advanced this workshop will show you the effects you can create by combining a single ‘Speedlight’ with ‘Natural Light’. Using the principles of ‘Inverse Law’ you will learn how to manipulate light to produce outstanding and varied results. Imagine having the ability to ‘bend’ and ‘shape’ light, however you want, using just one flash. Well, this workshop is the answer to that and so much more. Workshop Outline: We start out using natural light and understanding its full creative potential. These skills include learning to see it correctly, understanding the subtle differences in the placement of the subject, then using creative metering to achieve extraordinary results like the images above. Control the Light – Control the Outcome Then the fun begins as we explore the creative techniques of introducing one Speedlight with natural light, to create images with genuine WOW factor. I will show you how to ‘control’ light in your images by altering flash output while using natural light to compliment the end result. Create ‘Low Key’ Portraits on location, without all the complicated studio setups. Learn the principles of creating images like this which were shot in bright sunshine at 12.30 pm. Fill Flash Natural Light & Fill Flash Location portraits can often present many challenges when it comes to lighting. These can include overcast days, bright sunshine, or amazing sunsets. To improve results Fill Flash is used but the results are often disappointing. Learn the principles of variable flash output and how to achieve them in manual mode. Working on location with an experienced model, I will guide you through ‘creating a themed shoot’ and ‘Posing’ a model accordingly. We create three different themes with costumes and lighting. Time & Location The workshop begins at 2.30 pm and will finish at 5.30 pm. Our location will be central to Melbourne and revealed at the time of booking. Limited to only 4 participants per workshop.This allows plenty of ‘One on One’ with our model and time with myself to assist where required. Each participant will receive a detailed booklet covering all aspects of the workshop.
